The menu item above lists all the pages giving basic information with regard to
electronic and electricity. The horizontal menus, top and bottom give other information.
To understand electricity you will need to become a
'Jack of all trades'. Chemistry is not only used to explain the basics of
electricity, since there many applications where the two marry together. Physics
is another area that is used to explain the fundementals of electricity and
again many applications marry together electricity and physics. Most people hate
mathematics, especially subjects like algebra and trigonmetry, yet even at a
basic level some knowledge is required. As you delve deeper into electricity you
find something called differentiation and integration having to be used and thus
subjects needed to be understood.
The structure on the left is how I would expect the
complete novice to proceed to gain a basic understanding of electricity. It
takes you from the atom, where we discover something called electrons. We move
on to discovering that some atoms and compounds allow the free movement of
electrons while some do not, with a third group that is neither one or the
other. The standard unit of time is the second, so just what is a standard and
what standard units are involved in electricity. We look at the analogy of a 400
metre hurdler in athletics and an electric circuit. While finding out what an
electric circuit is, we will discover more about the letter A!!!!! So we
conclude with the start of the mathematics used in electrical understanding.
